The COVID-19 or corona virus is slowly on the increase in the Gambia but all the known confirmed cases were imported into the country from abroad and another probable case in the pipeline.
The Minister of Health Dr. Amadou Lamin Samateh delivered this information to the general public in a press briefing on Sunday 29th March, said a fourth case has been confirm and all were imported with non-existence of local transmission but there is a probability of another case.
A Gambian man in his 50s traveled from France on the same flight with the first known case. The man’s case was reported through the COVID-19 hotline wherein his sample was taken and later confirmed to be positive.
Dr. Samateh called for calm, vigilant and focus to follow the preventive measures in battling the pandemic.
