 By Alieu Jallow RAID The Gambia, a Non Governmental Organisation focused on creating awareness and positive actions on issues affecting the advancement of youths such as illicit drugs and substance use and abuse, on Tuesday 3rd November 2020 commences 3 days training for 40 young persons across the country. Speaking at opening ceremony, Mr. Modou Njie, Director of health promotion and education said lot of sensitisation campaign have been done across the country on the tobacco act 2016. He called on participants to take a much radical and robust mechanism in trying to implement the 2016 tobacco act. He added that among the campaign was public smoking and to minimise the rate of its prevalence in public as well a behavioural change towards achieving set objectives of the tobacco act. Mr. Sambujang Conteh the Executive Director of RAID Gambia, stated that the aim of the three days capacity building training is to support and strength RAID’s institution and human resources capacity to effectively contribute to tobacco control in enhancing their advocacy skills and knowledge. The three days training will avail the participants the opportunity to accustomed and familiarise themselves with the 2016 tobacco act, non communicable diseases, national, regional and global epidemic of tobacco. |
