BREAKING NEWS:“3 Years Jotna” to Appear in Court at LRR

Trumpet Newspaper can authoritatively report that two Executive members of “3 years Jotna”, political pressure movement are ordered by the Police Prosecutors to appear before Magistrate Peter of Mansakonko Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 9 March 2020. The duo, Ballo Saidykhan and Famara Jerro Saidykhan are the regional Chairman and Treasurer, respectively of ‘3 years jotna’ Lower River Region branch.
The two were arrested at Jarra Dasilameh on 1st November 2019 by Station Officer Kemo Sanneh of Mansakonko Police Station on the orders of Police Commissioner Kemeta Sambou. They were briefly detained, but released on bail on the same day. The bail bond is D100, 000, individually.
According to the sources, the accused persons are to appear on a charge of ‘unlawful assembly’, pressed against them by Mansakonko Police Prosecutors. The case, according to our findings, has been stagnant since November due to lack of evidence against the two. Until last week, the accused were informed to appear before the Court on Monday.
Jerro Saidykhan, a native of Jarra Kani Kunda, is the United Democratic Party (UDP) Jaduma Ward Councilor and also a businessman. He is the Treasurer of ‘3 years jotna’ in LRR.
Mr. Ballo Saidykhan, the regional Chairman of ‘3 years jotna’ was an ex-corporal of the Gambia Armed Forces and a member of Victims Centre. Ex-Corporal Saidykhan was a victim of the foiled 11 November 1994 coup plot in which dozens of officers of the Gambia National Army were murdered in cold blood. He was jailed for years before been released and subsequently dismissed from the army. He is a living witness to the gruesome murder of Lieutenants Basiru Barrow, Abdoulie Dot Fall, Gibril Saye and others.
When contacted, Police Spokesperson ASP Lamin Njie, said he could not get details from LRR Police Commissioner Kemeta Sambou due to his engagement in another matter in LRR. ASP Njie said he was informed that the matter is with Police Prosecutors and that he has to link with them to get more details of the case. He asked for more time to get more information from Commissioner Sambou.
