Superintendent Kantehs’ Case differ to Tuesday for Ruling

Magistrate Peter A. Che of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court has decided to push the ruling on the no case to answer submission by lawyers of Chief Superintendent Muhammed Kanteh to Tuesday 22nd September 2020.

The adjournment was communicated to this medium by the defence team. It was communicated that the Court did not sit today and the Magistrate decided to adjournment the ruling.

Chief Superintendent Muhammed Kanteh, formerly Director of Intelligence at State House and later posted as the Operations Commander of the Gambia Police Force at West Coast Region.

He was arrested on 26th January 2020 during the fracas of the “3 years Jotna” political protest after visiting two of his injured brothers at the protest. He was detained for days and charged with neglect of official duty. He pleaded not guilty and the prosecution calls six witnesses to build a case against him.

His lawyers on Friday 12th September filed a ‘no case’ to answer on his behalf. The ruling on the submission was scheduled to today Thursday 18th September, but is now differed to Tuesday.
