Official confirmed information emanating from Lower River Region, has indicated that a Bissau-Guinean national residing in a particular Village in Jarra, is currently under the Soma Police custody for allegedly raping a five year old child.
The man was arrested by officers of Jappineh Police Stations and later transferred the case to Soma regional Police station for further investigation. Though the incident did not happened in Jappineh.
Mr. Francis Gomez, was taken into custody on Tuesday 2nd June 2020, after a complaint of rape was lodged against him. The said child is said to be living in the same compound with the alleged rapist.
Assistant Superintendent Lamin Njie, Spokesperson of the Gambia Police Force confirmed the incident and said the suspect is a 43 year Bissau Guinean. He is currently helping the Police in the investigation.
