The Department of Livestock Services on Thursday 20th August handed over four brand new double cabins pick-up vehicles to Regional Livestock Directors of North Bank, Central River, West Coast and Upper River Regions. The vehicles were procured by the Government to enhance livestock extension service delivery in those regions.
On behave of the Regional Livestock Directors, the Officer -In- Charge (OIC) for West Coast Region Madam Isatou Savage applauded the Ministry of Agriculture and the Department of Livestock Services for providing the vehicles which would help to enhance their works in their respective regions. “This will help us to reach out to farmers in timely bases,” Madam Savage said.
Madam Savage noted that the distribution of the vehicles is timely considering that the department is about to engage in its annual Contagious Bovine Pleuropneumonia (CBPP) Mass vaccination campaign country wide. And the vehicles would no doubt enhance mobility during the vaccination campaign and livestock extension delivery.
Madam Savage thanked the Honourable Minister of Agriculture Madam Amie Fabureh and Dr Abdou Ceesay, Director General of Department of Livestock Services for ensuring that the regions have these new vehicles.
Mr Cherno Njie, Vehicle Controller at the Ministry of Agriculture called on the various beneficiaries to make best use of the vehicles. He appealed to the Regional Directors to ensure that the vehicles receive regular maintenance and up keep to ensure that they serve their purpose for very long time. Njie said the department has being struggling with vehicles problems for quite a long time.
