MFDC- Senegalese Clash: 2 Dead, 10 Wounded, 8 Missing

According to the Senegalese News website Seneweb, the 24th January 2021 exchange of gun fire between Senegalese ECOMIG Forces stationed in the Gambia and MFDC liberation army on the Gambia soil has left 2 Senegalese soldiers dead, 10 wounded with life threatening injuries and 8 missing. So far the missing soldiers are yet to be accounted for, though the MFDC Commander Salif Sadio has promised to free the captive soldiers.

The dead are El hadj Boubacar Ba and private Serigne Mbaye Sey.

The missing nine soldiers are Sergeant Abou Bâ, Sergeant Fulgence Antoine Manga, Chief Corporal Niane Diatta, Chief Corporal Pape Souaka Diouf, private Gana Sène, private Omar Thioye, private Atap Diémé and private Jacob Vincent Mendy.

Those with life threatening injuries are Chief Warrant Officer Boucar Sarr, Chief Sergeant Mamadou Karim Diallo, Master Corporal Bouly Mansaly, soldier, Bounama Mandiang, soldier Patrice-Charles Coly, soldier Ousmane Badji, soldier Ibrahima Halil Diouf, soldier Ousmane Souané, soldier Youssouph Diatta and soldier Ibrahima Sidibé Diallo.

MFDC Commander Sadio

The battle that lasted for hours within the leaky border of Casamance and Gambia ended on the Gambian soil with the arrest and detention of a Gambian security operative, a Gambian Village Chief (Alkalo) and another.

The Commander of the Casamamnce Liberation movement Salif Sadio has vowed to take to the war to the Gambian soil if Senegal uses Gambian territory to launch an attack on him.
