It looks like hopes are dashing away and the beautiful smiles on the faces of the staff of Gam petroleum after the appointment of new General Manager is also fading away as the new boss Mr. Yero Jallow threatens staff and vows to sack anyone given out information about GP to the media.
The appointment of Mr. Jallow after the sacking of his predecessor, brought hopes for the staff as he Jallow promised to uplift the welfare of the staff and fulfill the demands of the staff welfare committee that petitioned him on their working conditions.
In a memo titled, “Unauthorised Transmission of Information Regarding GP” copied to all the staff, GM Jallow specifically mentioned Trumpet Newspaper and accused staff of sneaking out information to the media and threatening to deal with anyone found wanting.
Readers could recall that Trumpet newspaper has done an intensified investigation into several sagas at GP depot at Mandinary with subsequent publications of articles to that effect.

The memo dated 3 June 2022 reads, “It has been noticed, with great concern, that some members of of staff haven been transmitting information pertaining to Gam Petroleum Storage Facility Company Ltd with authorization. In some of our previous management meetings, we reminded the management team the importance of ensuring that all staff adhere to code of ethics and conduct about confidentiality and communication as per(part 6) section (18.6) (18.6.1-4) of the Petroleum Resources Manual, which all staff are hereby urged to read again to acquaint themselves with the said provisions. Ignorant of this code of conduct will not be tolerated as as an excuse in the event of violation. The main message from the referenced provisions is that no staff member should give information pertaining to the company to any third party without a prior approval in writing by the General Manager except in the case of emergency where communication should be in line with the response plan”.
“Where the information was given out by either staff members without authorization or given by the visitors who obtained company information through security staff negligence by not ensuring that all visitors leave their mobile phones at the security gate before entering the premises, including the following instances”
“The Trumpet ( a social media platform) releases a publication on the 6th of May 2022 with an article entitled Gampetroleum Staff Hopeful as New Boss Takes Promising Steps. It looks nice on account of the headline. However, the shocker is, the violation of the principles of the confidentiality because most the issues in that article were issues discussed in our management meetings meaning, the message was given by some team members, Erroneously included among the issues highlighted by the paper, was the issue of “staff welfare manual” which was never discussed in any of the meetings held. So why should discussion during management meetings appear on a social platform without authorization”?
” All staff are therefore hereby strictly warned to desist from any such unprofessional, dishonest and unruly behaviour which is detrimental to both the staff and company. The staff are further warned that such behaviours shall not be tolerated by the authorities of the company”.
” Any staff member caught given out information to third parties shall face serious disciplinary action which may include straight dismissal”
“Your cooperation and understanding would be highly appreciated for the greater good of GP and country”
Signed by Yero Jallow, General Manager Gampetroleum.
