The US Exchange Program Alumni Network-The Gambia Monday leg up a $24, 6260 known as ‘YASS” project designed to promote entrepreneurship among the youth especially in rural communities by introducing and encouraging them on more innovative and proactive ideas using local opportunities to enhance their business ideas into realities.
Suun Faye Vice President for the Network highlighted the needs for the trainers of the project to focus on trainers (TOT) who will serve as trainers for the project in all regions.
“We expect participants to gain enough adequate knowledge and skills required to train the 70 targeted in other regions”, Faye said.
Suun Faye thanked Embassy of United Sates in Banjul for the support given to the alumni network.
Alieu Jallow founder of Start Up Incubator and lead facilitator urged participants to comprehend the basic knowledge on entrepreneurship, develop a business model canvas and generate ideas that encourages innovative businesses and attracts major investors.
Start Up Incubator was contracted by the Network following their reputation and expertise in grooming entrepreneurs for the last five years.
Base on his experience, Mr. Jallow attributes his success to passion and commitment and urged participants to give in their best towards national development.
Ms. Fatou Camara junior of Fatu Network, a participant, is optimistic about the training across the country to encourage young persons’ to excel in business ideas.
Participants were selected from within the circles of the Network who are either a Mandela Washington Fellow or YALI regional Leadership Fellows in Ghana and Nigeria with the basic scheme on entrepreneurship experience and running personal businesses.
